Richmond FC recently donated uniforms to Peace Portal Children’s Home, located in Mpigi, Uganda. There are 50 children who live on the 10-acre farmland. The home is supported by Peace Portal Community Church (Uganda) and Peace Portal Alliance Church (White Rock, BC). For the past 10 years, Peace Portal Alliance has been sending a group of people to live on the 10-acres for two weeks every summer. The team engages in Ugandan culture, visits some of the more needy families in the community of Mpigi, establishes work projects (this year we were able to build a roof, gutter, well, and mud house), and a chunk of time is spent playing with the kids and getting to know them.

The kids are so amazing and they really, REALLY love to play soccer!! One of the things they look forward to all year is the Canada VS Uganda soccer game. We play after church on the last Sunday we’re there and we just keep playing all afternoon, pretty sure we played four games in a row. I think they love it so much because they know that guaranteed, they’ll beat us. Ugandans are incredibly good soccer players, we are no match for them but we still have a whole lot of fun.
