U17 Richmond Cup 2015 – Fury Storms Ahead

It was a dark and stormy night.  Cold pelting rain and wind over Minoru Oval set the stage for an epic battle between the Strikers and Fury.  The RFC Strikers, coached by Paul Lambranda, gave the RFC Fury a serious challenge well until late in the second half when Bernie Pawlik’s side surged ahead to win the Richmond Cup for the second year in a row.  Congratulations to both teams for a well-played match.

U15 Richmond Cup 2015 – Congratulations Cyclones

The RFC Cyclones, under the able direction of coaches Fari Fuladi and Rein Weber were able to capture another Richmond Cup win this season in a tight match against the U15 Lightning, coached by Ray Young and Bernard Wong.  By all accounts, it was an exciting and close match that had to be decided in PKs, with the Cyclones coming out ahead.

U14 Richmond Cup 2015 – Congratulations Strikers

A crisp, sunny November morning was the setting for another exciting Richmond Cup game between the U14B1 Lions, coached by Bernie Koestlmaier, and the U14B1 Strikers, coached by Patrick Rasmussen.

The well matched teams played deep into the second half with no goals conceded when suddenly the Lions pulled ahead 1-0 with about 8 minutes left on the clock.  The Strikers came back re-invigorated and managed to even the score with less than 2 minutes remaining.

The dreaded PKs were equally as exciting with both goalies making big saves to keep their teams alive.  After 5 PKs each, the Strikers won in sudden death and the team celebrated with the traditional rush onto the field to rally around the final shooter.   In an awesome show of solidarity and sportsmanship, the Lions also came onto the field and rallied around their Keeper to celebrate his amazing effort in a difficult shoot out.

Well done all and congratulations to the U14B1 RFC Strikers.
