For players born 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004.
Richmond FC is now offering boys and girls across Richmond a chance to play indoor soccer during the winter months, in five locations around the city, on Sunday nights from 5pm.
Players will be drafted into teams closest to where they live, across the city, in West Richmond, City Centre, Cambie and King George, in the U9 to U16 age groups.
The league is intended for all levels of skill and is intended to be played in a fun, recreational manner. There are no practices, but each game time will have a warm-up period.
Games will be played in two 25-minute legs of ‘5 on 5’ action every Sunday evening, with a golden goal playoff if the scores are tied. A championship table will be kept updated online and a finals series played on the final weekend for ages U9 and above.
Teams will consist of 10-player rosters and substitutions will be automatically run in a ‘last man off, last man back on’ basis, similar to cosom hockey. Games will run with no goalkeepers, will be refereed by RFC coaches and referees.
The season will run from mid/late November through to the spring, with a Christmas break, though specific dates, times, venues and team numbers will be confirmed as signup numbers take shape.
The cost of registration is $50, which covers league fees, and a team t-shirt.
Players will provide their own shin-guards and use non-floor marking sneakers. RFC will provide balls and goals. Overly aggressive play, cheating, mocking, and poor sportsmanship will be penalized in a yellow card/red card manner and persistent infractions will see the player in question sit out the game, at the referee’s discretion.
Games will be played at the following venues:
* Quilchena Elementary off No.1 Rd and Blundell
* McKay Elementary off Granville and No.2 Rd
* Wowk Elementary off No.2 Rd and Steveston Highway
* Talmey Elementary off No.4 Rd and Bridgeport
* Mitchell Elementary off No.5 Rd and Cambie
Registration will remain open until November 16, or until available team numbers are filled.
